HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Commerce, and Tourists has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 10th September, 1910. Quotations (unless otherwise specified) are for average market prices on spot :—: — Mutton. — The market is firm ; stocks of mutton on hand are light, and are firmly held in few hands. A moderate demand, Canterbury 3Jd, North Island 3|d per lb. Lamb. — The market is firm, and there is a good demand for all lamb. Canterbury s£d, other taan Canterbury 4|d per 7b. Beef. — The market is weak. Stock is accumulating owing to a poor demand. New Zealand hinds ojd, fores 2£d per lb. Butter. — The market is quiet, but firm, for best quality. Buyers are awaiting this season's Australian, which is now due. Danish 117s, Siberian 107s per cwt. I Cheese. — The market is quiet, but steady, English being in large supply. Buyers are cautious. The supply of New Zealand cheese is practically exhausted. New Zealand cheese 57s 6d per cwt. Hemp. — The market is somewhat steadier, and there is a better demand. New Zealand good fair, per ton, £24 ss ; fair grade, £21 10s ; fair current Manila, £20 ss ; forward shipment, New Zealand good fair per ton £24 ; fair grade, £21 ss ; forward shipment, New Zealand good fair, per ton, £24 ; fair grade, £21 ss ; fair current Manila, £20 10s.
