The following are ths latest quotations for Government securities, with a comparison of those ruling last week: —

The Bank, of England rate of discount remains at 3 per cent., to which rate it was lowered from 3i per pent, on Bth June. A year ago the rate waa 24 per cent. The open market rate of discount for best three months bills is 2s 6d lower, on the week at 3 per cent., but is 30s higher than a year ago. Short loans are quoted at 1| per- cent. ; last week tho price, was 13 to 2i per cent., and a year j ago 2 P er cent. Tho open market rate of discount in Paris is unchanged on the week at 2£ por ceL>t (11 a year ago), and 7s 6d higher in Berlin at 3| per cent. (2| a year ago). GRAIN AND FLOUR. Wheat. — The markets are steady and inactive, and values are practically unchanged. Fair harvest weather prevails in England and the Continent. Australian cargoes are dull; 39s 9d is asked for Oc-tober-November shipment, and 39s for new crop January-February shipment; 37s 9d to 37s lo£d has been paid for parcels August-September shipment. There is a limited demand for Australian, on spot, at 40s ; New Zealand, at- 34s to 35s 6d. Flour is quiet; on spot, at Glasgow, 27s 6d; forward business is entirely neglected. Oats. — Good demand for spot lots. Gartons, 18s 6d to 21s 6d; sparrowbills, 17s 6d to 20s; La Plata, September-October shipment, 13s 9d. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Butter is firm, but quiet. A few lots of stored New Zealand choicest are selling at 112s to 116s; Australian, 108s to 110s; secondary is neglected; South Australian sold at about 106s. Sugar, German beet, 88deg., 4d lower, at 12s ild per cwt; first marks, granulated, f.o.b. Hamburg-, unchanged, at 16s 6d. BRADFORD WOOL MARKET. Bradford Tops.— The market is firm; 40' s, id higher, it 15d per lb; 46's, £d higher, at 17d ; common 60's unchanged, at 27d; super 60's, unchanged, at 28d; 64's, unchanged, at 29d. METALS. Copper.— On spot, 5s higher, at £55 15s per ton; throe months, 3s 9d higher, at £56 10s. Tin.— On spot, £1 higher, at £163 10s por ton. Lead.— 2s 6d lower, at £12 8s 9d per ton.
