ANNUAL MEETING V.M.C.A. CLUB. The annual meeting of the Y.AI.C.A. Cricket Club was held last evening in the association rooms. Thirteen new members were admitted. The following officers were elected : — President, Mr. J. G. W. Aitken; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Reed, J. Heaton Barker, N. Thornton, H. N. Holmes, W. T. Williams, Dr. Elliott, C. R. Smith, and J. C. Port; hon, sees., Messrs. W. Hughes and T. Philipson; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. Edwards; Management Committee, Messrs. C. Murphy, W. Reed, H. M'Girr, and officers. Inter alia the annual report states that since the commencement of the club, this season was probably the most successful and most enjoyable experienced, the junior team being Timners-up', only losing the championship by one point. "The most exciting, as well as enjoyable game, was the match against Wellington College, when the captain made the winning hit, bringing the score to -^d, this being one better than the opposing score of 227. Messrs. H. M'Girr and H. Wilson headed the batting averages with 35.1 and 30.2 respectively. In the bowling department Ash Edwards headed the list, haviug captured 23 wickets at a cost of- 7.3 runs apiece. Messrs. C. Murphy, 25 wickets 8.6, Scott 24 wickete 8.85, M'Girr 33 wickets 8.87, also contributed to the success of the team. Mention is also made of C. Murphy's "hat trick" against Wellington North — four wickets with four successive balls. N. Phillips headed the batting average with 17.6, Corbett running close with 17.00, in the third-class teams, and in bowling E. Hollis 4.2 and Wilson 8.5 did best. Acknowledgments are made to Mrs. Fossette (for work in connection with . the club's bazaar), Mr. C. H. Poole (lecture), and Mr. W. Wood (captain and treasurer). POST AND TELEGRAPH. It has "been decided by the , local Post and Telegraph Department to enter a senior and junior team in the Wednesday cricket competition. Officers were elected as follows : — Patron, Sir Joseph Ward ; president, Mr. D. Robertson ; vice-presidents, all heads of departments; captain, Mr. C. A. Wyatt; vicecaptain, Mr. F. Plimmer ; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. E. Corbett ; committee, Messrs. M'Kay, Knapp, Hollis, and Moffatt; delegates! to union, Messrs. M'Kay, Corbett, and Moffatt.
