NEXT WEEK'S SHOW. The "nodding daffodil" in its manyj and greatly varied forms is the on* flower of spring that appeals to the fancy of all classes. Not only does it represent richness of colour, but it* quiet and graceful beauty is unsurpassed by any other flowers that open at this time of the year. Since hybridists commenced working with the daffodil on an extensive scale some fifteen years ago the whole character of tho bloom has been considerably changed, and we now . have flowers thai are ' an improvement in every respect on the varieties from which they have been derived. Examples of what has been done may be seen at the Hutt Spring Show, which opens on Wednesday next at the Hutt Drill Hall. With the Hut* Valley Horticultural Society the spring shows have always been the most successful, and this year the exhibition promises to be as popular as ever. Lord and Lady Islington have accepted t.he society's invitation to open the shew, and a large number of visitors is expected to go out from town.
