The Agent-General for New South Wales, Mr. T. A. Coghlan, replying to an article in the Westminster Gazette, apropos statements in Mr. Foster Fraser's book respecting the alleged deterioration of the British race in Australia, adduces arguments and statistics to prove that the allegation is unfounded and the reverse of true. [Mr. Fraser, in a leXer in reply to Mr. Coghlan, who in the Standard defended the capacity of Australia workmen, which Mr. Fraser had in his new book impugned, maintained that owing to Australia's climate, the third genexation of British settlers begins to show deterioration.] _^ /
