WELLINGTON GUARDS.
At the annual meeting of the Wellington Guards, held on Thursday evening, the- report and balance-sheet submitted revealed a highly satisfactory position with regard to equipment and finance. The numerical strength of the company was again increasing, and a good class of recruits was coming forward, while a high physical standard was being maintained. The shooting during Hie past season was of a good cyen quality, the company's representatives winning the Battalion Shield and being runners-up for the Garrison Shield. In announcing the retirement of Private C. H. Aamodt from active work in the corps, Lieutenant J. G. Roach, officer commanding, voiced his appreciation of the work of the late secretary, who had joined tho company in 18S9, and for the past seventeen years had ably filled the position of secretary. Reference wan also made to the retirement of the late commander, Captain J. Duthit, juti., and hopes were expressed for his immediate recovery.
