MUNICIPAL TRAMWAYS.
THE NEW AMENDING BILL. Just before the Municipal Conference adjourned for lunch to-day, the president (Mr. T. M. Wilford) rose, and after a brief preliminary explanation that there was an Important Tramways Amendment Bill to be shortly introduced to the House of Representatives, read out the following motion: — "That the Minister be askejk before introducing his Bill to submit^Popies to local authorities and other proprietors of tramways in order that they may confer together and then discuss the terms of the Bill with the Government and with representatives of the men with a view to arriving at a settlement satisfactory to all parties." The motion was carried without discussion.
