MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
» Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at to-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Two first offending inebriates were convicted and discharged ; another two were each fined ss, with the option of twentyfour hours' imprisonment ; a fifth, on bail, was mulcted in a penalty of 10s, default being also fixed at 24 hours' imprisonment. John M'Kinnon was fined ss, with a twenty-four hours' option for drunkenness ; and for refusing to quit licensed premises when requested to do so, was fined 20s, with witness's expenses 4s, in default, sentenced to seven days' imprisonment. A. Collins, for indecency, alleged to have been committed in Tinakori-road, was fined £5, with the alternative of twenty-one days' imprisonment. A charge of indecency was preferred against William Plain. Accused, who was defended by Mr. Cracroft Wilson, pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supieme Court. foi trial. Bail was allowed in tho'sum of £50 and two sureties of £25 each. | Sarah Elizabeth Winter, appearing [ on remand to answer a charge of disj orderly behaviour while drunk, was further remanded till Friday. Samuel Fabey Dunning pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing from the dwellinghouse of Daniel Smith a war medal and several other articles, of the total value of £6 2s 6d, the property of Thomas Hope. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
