Heavy rain fell during the night in many places, and snow has fallen on the ranges in the South. There are considerable freshes in the rivers, and heavy seas on the western coast. Barometer.— A temporary rise is probable in the southern districts., preceding a further fall everywhere. Sea. — Heavy on all the western coast; rough between Castlepoint and Kaikoura, and moderate elsewhere. Tides.— High on all the western coast, and good on the eastern coast of the South Island; moderate elsewhere. Weather.— Cool and changeable is probable generally, with showers on the western coast, and hail squalls in the southernmost districts.
