WADESTOWN RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.

Afc the first monthly meeting of the recently-elected executive of the Wadestown Ratepayers' Association there was a full attendance of members. There was a strong complaint at the meagre amount (£450) placed on the estimates for expenditure in the district during the current year. It was pointed out that the revenue received by the City Council from Wadestown was between £1200 and £1400 per annum, and that already a large sum had beer received in excess of the expenditure. The roads in the district were in a disgraceful condition — far worse than they had ever been in before — and unless they received immediate attention a much larger sum than that allocated would be required. As some attention was now being given to the roads, it was decided to wait untiJ the council's employees had finished before making any complaints. It was resolved to write to the Town Clerk to ascertain when the water and drainage works would be commenced. It is now over twelve months since the money was voted for these necessary works, and, although rates are b ' 'g paid, nothing has been done beyond some preliminary survey work.
