DAMAGE BY FIRE.
[BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] LEVIN, This Day. A house owned and occupied by Alexander Saunders, near Moutoa, was burned to the ground on Saturday evening. An oil lamp flared, and the curtains caught alight. It was thought the fire had been extinguished, but flames burst thiough the roof later. Part of the furniture was saved. The New Zealand Assurance Company had risks of £150 on the house and £100 on the furnituie. CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd May. On Saturday an eight-roomed house in Stanmore-road was destroyed by fire. It was insured for £300 in the United Office, and the furniture for £100 in the bame office-. The Minimax hand fire extinguisher is just the thing to put out a fire. A boy or girl can use it. A. T.
