The following aro the latest quotations for Government securities, with a com. parison of those ruling hut week:—

MONEY MARKET. The Bank of England rate of discount romains at 4 per cent., to which it was raised on 17th March. A year ago tho rato was 2J per cent. Tho open market rate of discount for best three months' bills is 3 3-16 per cent. A year ago it uaf 13 per cent. Short loans aro % loner, at 31 per cent. A year ago tho price was 1 per cent- Tho open market rato for three months' bills in Paris is unchanged, at 2£ per cent., while in Berlin it is | lower, at 3 per cent. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. The wheat markets aro very quiet. American is weak, owing to the favourable weather and poor consumption and demand. There is a probability that large reserves of old wheat will bo_ carried forward to the new season. Chicago May 1101 to 112 A cents a bushel; Jury, 1034 to 105 i cents. Cargoes aro firmly held. Adelaido and Victorian (March steamers) are quoted at 395, sellors at 393 3d. Steamers parcels (April) aro quoted at 38s 6d. Australian on tho spot is dull at 41s 6d. Flour. — Tho market is quiet. MarohApril is being pressed for sale. Glasgow. 29s 3d to 29s 6d, landed, with no buyers. Butter is a shade easier, owing to weakness in Danish, which is at 124s to 1265: Australian, 116s to 120s; New Zealand, 1225, and occasionally 1245. Cheese. — Now Zealand cheese is easier at 60s to 61s 6d. owinp to the arrival of tho Kaipara's shipment, which is fetching about 2s less. Sugar. — German beet, 14s sd; first marks granulated, 16s 7d. WOOL. Bradford Wool — Merino*: For fine crossbreds the market is firm, with prices low. Crossbreds are easier. Common 60's, 27d; super, 28d. METALS. Copper.— On tho epot, £57 ss; three months, £58 ss. Tin.— On the spot, £149 15s; threo months, £151 12s 6d. Iron, 50s lOd. Silver is quoted at 24Jd per ounce. KAURI GUM.
