MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
THE FINANCIAL POSITION. The Miramar Borough Council met last evening. There were present : — Tho Mayor (Mr. C. J. Crawford), Councillors M'Leod, Muir, M'Clelland, and Bowie. A letter was received fiom tho Tramways Engineer of the City Council (Mr. Stuart Uichardeon) with reference to notification on tho Miramar cars. He stated that instruction* had been again issued that all special earn must be provided with "special" boardf. Mr. 11. MacKay was grunted permission to erect davits at Kuraka Bay. An application wa«i rcc«i\ed from Mr. 11. H. Redchaw for a car to leave Miiamnr at 6.46 a.m. in time to allow paw*engcrs to catch tho New Plymouth express. It was resolved to n»k the Town Clerk to report. Councillor M'Clelland drew uttention to certain lights being out vi variouh parts of the borough. Tho matter was left in tho hand* of the Town Clerk. A request was received from Mr. Alex Grigg asking for a polling booth at Beatoun. Consideration of the. matter was postponed till next meeting. The Muyor prevented the balance-sheet for the year ended 31*t March. It waa not read, but the Mayor stated that the debit balance on general account of £1916 10s 4d at the beginning of the 1 year had been converted into a credit balance of £822 18» 6d through the sale of the land given' for tho benefit of the tramways. The advance mado to the sanitation loan of £500 'ould be repaid during tho year on the remaining debenture of £1000 being sold, 'lhis inhnnce vras mads «o as to enable tho sanitation loan to p.iy £3000 for the laud, and tho bank advanced tho other £2500.
