• A Wellington observer, i-eauhing this. morning for Hallcy's Comet, about 4.30, directed the telescope towards Venus to for us it, and was surprised to notice wry near the planet, and paitly concealed by its brilliance, a nebulo'ut object which gradually was seen to greater advantage, and remained in view till it faded out in the approaching xunrise. It is described as a very perfect and beautiful comet, possessing the three characteristic of nucleus, coma, and tail. "Watchers of the »kie.s" should be on the alert to-moirow morning.
