MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tha Makara County Council met yesterday. Thero were present: Tho Chairman (Mr. F. T. Moore), Councillors 11. Eastwood, J. H. Ilaggerty, F. Hawkins, ,G. Monk, and S. Bryant. The Chairman was appointed to represent tho council at tbo Municipal Conference. In reply to an enquiry, Mr. W. H. F>eld, M.P., wrote stating that tho Government could not supply metal from the Paekakariki quarries, as it required all that was available. It was resolved to ask Mr. Field if ho would endeavour to induco tho Hutt County Council to cru'h stono at another 'quarry at Paekakariki, and then tho council would bo a purchaser of metal. It was resolved to furnish information as to Workers' Compensation Act, and other matters, to the Counties' Association. Several matters of detail were dealt with.
