THE KERR-WILSON CONTEST. STRAINED RELATIONS. The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association bad a- long meeting last evening, most of tihe time being spent discussing the communications which took place over the Kerr-Wihxm contest at Auckland. Mr. J. H. Pollock wroto resigning his position as delegate for tho centre on the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. It was decided to request Mr. Pollack to reconsider his decision. A letter was received from the St. Patrick's Day Celebration Committee, stating that its club 'had had no communication with the Auckland Centre relative to a conte&t between Kerr and Wilson. Later on Mr. S. Robinson referred to i the following motion passed at the last meeting :— "That the Wellington Centre, j controlling as it does the sport in Wellington, would assure the Auckland Centra that correspondence sent to tho latter city other t-han through thoeecretary of this centre ia of no official value, ana has not the approval of members of this centre." He moved the addition of the following words to the resolution : "Such assurance, of course, doe© not apply in the case of a club in a matter of urgency communicating: direct with another club, nor does it apply to the centre's delegate, who may or may not be an official of a club." He did this, hesaid, because some members had got quit* a- wrong impression of the intention of the motion. Eventually the additional words proposed to be added to the original resolution were dropped, but the word "city" was altered to road "centre." ( Mr. W. H. Pollock considered a distinct attempt was being made to interfere with tho power* of clubs. He failed to get an amending nation discussed or voted upon because the chairman (Mr. W. Coffoy) ruled that it meant an alteration of the rules, and notice of motion was therefore required. Mr. Pollock then gave notice to have the resolution rescinded, and that the following new rule be adopted : "That all correspondence between clubs under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Centre and clubs in other centres shall Be made through this centre." Not long afterwards Mr. Pollock was seeking information concerning his notice of motion, when he was ordered by the chairman to resume his seat. Ho declined to do so, and a motion was carried that he should either resume hb seat or leave the room. He left.
