ENTERTAINMENTS.

WELLINGTON LIEDERTAFEL. Last evening the Wellington Liedertafel gave the first concert of the season in the concert chamber, Town Hall, before a fair audience. The nrst number. "Integer Vitae," was well performed. The words of this part-song (translated by Mr. J. W. Joynt) were of exceptional excellence. Miss Gladys Watkins charmed her audience with two song.^—Sclnibert's "The Young Nun," nnd "L'ete" (Chaminade). Her voice has a rare sweetness, and she sings with no effort. Mr. Hugh Wright gave the solo part of Reichardt's, "Tears of Anguish" ; the humming chorus accompaniment of this nu/nber was delightful. Mr. J. F. Carr savig "Two Bright Eyes" (Clutsam), and Tosti's "Mattinatn"— the flatter vury expressively. "Salamis" (Gercjjheim), a song of victory, the solo of which «m sung by Mr. Walters, w&* a decided success. The chorus showed much power and uniform treatmont. Goddard's "Angels Guard Thee" was well sung by Mr. R. G. Blow; tho beautiful accompaniment on 'he pianoforte might perhaps have been a little more sympathetic. An enjoyable item was the song with chorus, "The Old Superb," sung by Mr. Walter Warren in good style. Other part-songs were "The Patriot" (Lloyd) and "Lovely Night" (Chitmal). The glee "Sleep, (Jentle Lady," by Messrs. Bannister, J. F. Carr, W. Warren, and O. Parsons, was marred by being sung out of tune, to badly that the first strain waa repeated with a little better success. This is pardonable enough in the first concert after vocation. Mr. Robert Parker conducted his Liedertafel party in Uiis first concert of tho seventeenth season in his own hearty spirit.
