The vessel should arrive to-morrow morning, and owing to her late return will not sail for Picton, Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth till 11.30 p.m. on Saturday. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's ' liner lonic leaves the King's Wharf at < o'clock this afternoon for Lyttelton. The bazaar in the Sydney-street schoolroom will be brought to a cloee tonight, when the art union will be drawn. A fitting of the North Island Railway Appeal Board — Mr. Haselden, S.M., and Messrs. C. P. Ryan and M. Lee — was held to-day to hear two cases. The first was an appeal by Archibald Macdonald, New Plymouth, against his reduction from the position of shunter to that of porter. The second was that of Robert B. Milne, New Plymouth, who objected do hiit reduction from signalman to porter. Mr. S. G. Smith appeared for appellant*, and Mr. H. Davidson for the department.
