WONDERLAND.

Wonderland advertises its last day to morrow afternoon. All the sideshows will bo free. The grounds will not be open at night.

Meeting herds of bullocks in a narrow ' gorge appears to be attended wiih con- i eiderable personal risk, according to a < complainant to the Makara County ' Council to-day. He said that while i driving he met in Ngahauranga Gorge i a mob of cattle which damaged his cart i and prevented him working for two ' days. He claimed 9s per day, and 15s < for damage to his cart from the owner i of the cattle, but obtained no redrew. < In desperation he appealed to the coun- i cil. He also complained of motor cars i coming down the Gorge at an exceeeive. ] speed and without sounding a horn or : giving any other warning note. He ' was moved to come before the council, | not so much for the damage ke had < sustained as in tho interests of pub.ic i safety. Councillor Bryant remarked at- i to the motor cars in Ngahauranga Gorge ' that the council was powerless. There i would be a shocking accident there, no : doubt; but- the council had been trji ig ; for two years to stop the practice but without avail. The council resolved to ' refer the complainant to the council"? solicitor for advice, suggesting legal proceedings for the damage done, and expressing its fullest sympathy in the matter. ■ The death is recorded in a Press Association message from Dunedin of Mr. Maitland Gardner, a noted musician of that city.
