With regard to the grievances of teachers in the back blocks, the Southland Times states that tho Southland Education Board has not been inactive. During last year it adopted a scheme by which certain inexperienced teachers in the more remote parts of the district were enabled to spend a fortnight in good schools of a grade similar to their own. Their expenses were paid by the Beard, nnd the paper has it on the authority of the Inspectors that so far the results oi' the experiment have been of a highly encountering nature. The journal dot-s not know whether the suggestion that country seryii-o should carry with it special consideration is worthy of adoption or not.
