The first Trans-Andino tunnel train, connecting Chili and Argentina, was run to-day. The Trans- Andine railway scheme will »unk as ono of the most remarkable achievements of the world. It is the first trans-Continental railway in South America from tho Atlantic to tha Pacific, and forms ono of four outlets by which Chili, separated completely by the natural formation of tho territory from most of her sister republics, will bo able to communicate freely and at all times with the world at large. Th© great spiral tunnel, most difficult to make, is 9941 ft in length.
