A STIRRING EVANGELIST

m DR. HENRYS MISSION. An evangelist missionary noted for his succew, a vigorous American, Dr. Henry, is due here this afternoon, nnd is soon to begin work calculated to make a stir in tho community. At the forefront of Dr. Henry's method* is the Prayer Circle "1 have a way of my otrn of organising Prayer Circles," he Buys. "Our prayer circle cards havo on one side a covenant, pledging tho member of the circle to definite prayer and work for certain individuals during tho mission. On the other side there is space for ten names to be filled in, and members pledge themselves to begin at once to pray definitely for these individuals. As the | prayeis are answered the names are, of course, checked off. This method does not only secure definitenees in prayer, but also inspires to personal service." ' Tho misfiionary's plan is to work in heartily with the Christian church?*. Hence he will have no Sunday meeting* during tho regulur hours of worship, mid no week-night meetings on the regular night for church prayei meetings. "We phall encourage, ' ne bays, "«ll our con\erts to begin to attend tho week-night meetings of their churches flruight away during the mission." He puts the marks of a duiTeKsful mission under live heads : — "(1) The addition of believers to Chii=t by faith ; (2) the addition of these converts to the churches ; (3) the deepening of spiritual life in the churchet; (4) an increased number of personal j workers in all the co-operating churches ; (5) the creation of a new social conscience, with reference to the moral ovilfi of the community." Meetings for men are a specialty with Dr. Henry, and incidentally he will interest himself in temperance work as on adjunct to his evangelistic activity. The misKionifry is accompanied by Mr. Pott*, a Gospel singer. "1 am not vu emotional Gospel singor," states Mr. Potts. "Indeed, I have an antipathy to emotional singing which, in my opinion, is 06 little helpful ab emotional preuchinu." The visitors will be welcomed by the Ministers' Association at the Presbyterian Church this evening, and to-mor-row afternoon the N«w Zealand Alliance will tonder a reception. On Friday night Mr. Potts will conduit a choir rehearsal in the Town Hall. Dr. Henry's main work will begin on Sttadny with n meeting lor men.
