WELLINGTON CENTRE. Mr. L. W. Ludwig presided at a meet* ing of the Wellington Centre of th« New Zealand Amateur Swimming Ab-s fcociation held last evening. A good- deal of discussion took place on a. proposal to e«tabli£h\a life saving and f-urf dub. Hill moved : ''That thi* centie protest against the action of tlie N.Z.A.S.A. in ignoring the lecommsndations of a conference of delegates, front Mvimming centres held at Auckland ia February last." Mr. Hill contended rhafc the action of tho council was tantamount to ignoring the existence of tie conterence. Several other members spoket strongly on the subject, and the nwtiou was carried unanimously. M«ssrs. B. C , Freyberg, Hill, and the chairman wer» appointed a committee to draft a letter to the council. At the Te Aro Batns Ja&t evening, R. Baker defeated W. G. Morpetu in a rac* to decide who should Ls-ve the V.M.C.A. Club's Crouch Cup. Baker gave Morpeti llscc start, and won by two yards in 72 3-s.sec. A 150 yards teams handicap held at ■the Thomdon Baths last evening was won by W. Wiggins, E. Donovan, and; E. Picot.
