CITY SUPPLIES.
COUNCIL ACCEPTS TENDERS. A special meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon to consider the tenders for the annual supplies. The Mayor (Dr. Newman) presided. The following tenders >vere accepted : — Printing (tramways), Whitcombe and Tombs; electrical supplies, A. and T. Ijr.it; cables and topper wire, A. H. Smith and Co. ; Fire Brigade uniforms, A. Levy ; books and periodicals (libraries), Whitcombe and Tombs ; brass and zinc work, A. and T. Burt; bricks and lime, E. Tonks; cement, divided among F. Holmes, P. Hutson and Co., ana W. A. Chote ; chemicals, Sharland and Co. ; coal, Westport Coal Company j drain pipes, H. Hill, Ltd. ; explosives, divided s amonc Bannatyne and Co. and Briscoe and Co. ; file wood, West-port Coal Company ; ironmongery, J. Dutliie and Co. ; {.ravel, W. Whitehouse ; ironfoundry work, divided between Neilson, Murray and Frederic and Hutchison and Campbell ; painters' materials, R. and E.
