COURT CASES.

In the Magistrate's Court yesterday the following additional cases were dealt with before Mr. Haselden, S.M. :— * plea of guilty was entered by Henry Charles -\.doTphus Williamson, alias Paul Henry Mercier, charged with commit ting theft of £3 belonging to James Poole Goodwin. Chief Detective- Broberg stated that accused and informant, were staying at a hotel, occupying adjoining rooms. The latter mis>£ed the money from bis pockets when tie got out of bed one morning. Accused had travelled the country as a deaf mute. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. On a second charge of obtaining £6 from John Hurley by means of a valueless cheque, he was remanded to appeae at Palmerston Nortt- on the 11th inst. llice Urown, alias Graham, wa. sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment on a charge that ehe was a rogue and a vagabond, having insufficient lawful means of support, and having beeu previously convicted as an idle and disorderly person. For riding a bicycle ..* night without a light, Frederick Shand was fined ss, with costs 7s. A similar penalty was imposed upon Claude Henry Carr, who left a vehicle unattended in Willis-street, and upon Albei t Wardle for driving a vehicle after sunset without * light attached. Thomas CarsweH, for disobedience of an order to maintain his rllegitimata child (a.reais £2 8s) wa: sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment, warrant to issue on request of complainant. Arrears were remitted in the cases of Dorothy Paulmier and Francis G. Hartnett, who applied for remission under an order of the Industrial Schools Act. \n application was made by W. J. A. M'Ginnity to cancel an order of maintenance for his wife, Alico Louisa M'Gmnity. The application was granted, the order being cancelled and the arrears remitted.
