WELLINGTON AUTUMN RACE MEETING.

♦ ON THE TRAINING TRACKS. A DULL MORNING AT TRENTHAM. (By Sir Bedivere.) At 5.16, tiay wn» just breaking. Will o' the Wisp waR apparently yet abroad, dodging, witli his lantern, in and out of the many looeo boxes to be found at Trentham, and the souml of his whie.perctl muttering* travelled listlessly in the still, damp-laden air. Presently, as objects could be moie clearly ili.«tinf»ui*hed, hoi>«B, be-rngged from muzzle to tail, crept quietly, some a little stiffly, out through opened doors. An angry sky glowed dull red in the east, and foreboded rain, but none fell until shortly before beven o'clock, when it commenced to descend lightly but steadily. As has been his habit for forty' years or more, E. Cutth was early on the scene. His five charged, namely, Husbandman, Kilw inning, Sharpshooter, Flitaway, and Tenterhook, each of whom looks well, weic not lequired to heavily exert themselves ; and with the exception of Flitaway, who strode along for four furlongs, all were restricted to half pace exercise. Danube, who looks very fit, and Nautiform's brother, Vice Admiral, galloped five furlongs on the tan. Danube ran clean away from hi 6 stable mat« and beat him home by about ten lengths. Selene spurted down the straight, but Effort, Sir Frisco, and Boanerges were not extended. St. Felix was going better than Laius after running the last clx of auven furlongs on the tan in lmin 20* cc. Bollin, Faunus, and Idealism strode along from the home turn in company. Armlet (Begbie) and Perle dOr, who carried a light-weight, broke away opposite the six furlong disc on the graan, and the former got home a dozen lengths to the good in lmin 17.<* c, a time upon which she could probably have improved. Diabolo, who seemed to he clightly musical, held Bourbon safe over a mile, and it it. said that when galloping under restraint he habitually makes a bit of a noise, which, however, ceases when he is thoroughly extended. Advantage was too good for Lord Kelvin, whom *he beat over half a mile on the grass; but there was little to chooce between Tumut and CronMadt at the conclusion of a similar task, which occupied the pair 50i>ec*. Trugnnini was sent six furlongs alone, and Kina went a circuit eteudily. Polymorphous finished a length ahead of King hoult, after traversing six furlongs on the tan in lmin 19sec; each wa& apparently doing his best, but it is firobable that the Multiform colt is a azv worker. Sea Queen and Magneto reeled off five furlongs on the grass in lmin 4 3-ssec, and Swimming Belt, alone, ran the last six of seven furlongs on the tan in lmin 18 3-Secc. Audax ran along for hslf a mile after cantering over two circuits. Explosive moved freely whilst finrinting four furlongs, a distance which North Eart. and Golden Loop, the former especially, ran pretty easily in 48 5-ssec on tho gran«. Osiris, who wu the last horse to work before breakfast, galloped six furlongs alone. Though both Danube and Vice Admiral are at headquarteis, neither is engaged at the meeting. It seems evident that they are to l>e taken on to Pulrucrxton North.
