TARANAKI PETROLEUM.

. NEW PLYMOUTH, Ist April. The manager of the Taranaki Petroleum Company reported to the directors to-night that though tho gale played havoc with the derricks, it had not damaged the machinery. It is expected to have Nos. 1 and 2 repaired and ready to resume work on Tuesday, and No. 3 at the end of next week. Since Friday last, whilst the bores were closed down, some 90 barrels of oil have been secured at No. 2, having flowed of its own accord between the casings; from 12th to 24th March 45 barrels »t No. 3 ; from sth January to date, No. 2 has never ceased to flow oil and water, with silt generally.
