Notjce has been given of a motion declaring that Cape Colony is entitled to have one of its Ministers cnosen as fiast Prime Minister of Ihe Union of South Africa. The Act of Union comes into operation on the 3lst of next month, that date being the eighth anniversary of tfee conclusion of peace, which was signed at Vereeniging on 31st May, 1902. The Prince of Wak* will open 'the new* Parliament. The Senate is to consist o-i eight members elected by the Legislataae* cf each province, and ei^»t meuwterss nominated* by the Governor. TSaei membership of the Union House ofj; AssemWy is to be— Cape of Good Rops,i 51.; Natal, 17; the Transvaal, 36; aMBf, the Orange River Colony, 17.
