Charlois, an astronomer, at Montgras, •near Nice, Bregus, a highly-respected doctor of Names, has confessed that he is the murderer. Charlois was his brother-in-law. There was no clue until the police found threatening letters in Charlois's papers relating to litigation over his dead wife's property. Enquiries have proved that Breugus left Ximes on Saturday morning and reached Nice at eleven o'clock at night, arriving at Nimes, on his return, early on Sunday.
