SOUTH WELLINGTON LAND COMPANY.

At the anuuai meeting of this company twenty shareholders were represented personally and by proxy. Di. Fell, chairman of directors, presided. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman stated tha£ tho land market was extremely dull at the present time, but the company was no worse than the' majority of land companies, who were also .suffering from the same cause. Land had been selling somewhat better during the past few months than for a long time previously, and building had again commenced on the company's estate. He did not, however, think that there would be any material improvement till laiei on in the .year, and the shareholders would have wait for a brighter tone in the land market. After discussion, the report and balance-sheet were then unanimously adopted. The retiring directors — Dr. W., Fell, Messrs. D. Robertson, T. B. Dwan, J. A. Baron, W. A. Chote, and E. W. Wilton — were Te-clccted. Mr. George Ross was re-elected auditor. At a meeting of directors, held latei in the evening, Dr. Fell was elected chairman. Proceedings h» furtherance of a claim for £61 15s, arising out of the installation of an acetylene gas plant in a hotel at Reefton, wert taken in the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. W. R. Haselden, S.M., by H. W. Davies and Co. against Francis B. Stallard. Decision was leserved. Mi. Gray appeared for plaintiff and Mr. Blair for defendant.
