Before Mr. Hnselden, fe. \|.. today, Allan George Smith, for wilful damage, assessed at £3, to a house belonging to G. H. Baylis, was fined £2, with costs £3. • A lenient view was taken in the case of Henry Sanders, charged with leaving a vehicle unattended, and with cruelty to a horse suffeiing from a sore shoulder. For the former offence the defendant was convicted and discharged, and for the other a fine of 10s, with costs 9s, was imposed. Charged with having entered licensed [iremises during the luriency of a prolibition order, Williajn Lewis Allen, who dicj_ not appear, was fined £2, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. A charge of driving a motor-car in Revans-street at a speed dangerous to the public was preferred against Frederick Englebert. Mr. Herdman appear ed for defendant, who pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given that the motor-car passed a stationary tramcar opposite the clock at the intersection of Riddiford-street, in Revans-stieet, at a speed of between ten and fifteen miles an hour, grazing the tram conductor as he stepped on to his car. The magistrate did not think between ten and fifteen miles an hour on a straight road an excessive speed for a motor-car. He dismissed the information without calling on the defence. Walter Richard Howard, who rode n bicycle at night without a light, was fined ss, with costs 7s. The same punishment was meted out to James Jenkins for leaving a vehicle in the street unattended. The following owners of unregistered dogs were ordered to pay costs (7s) in connection with the prosecutions :—: — Hartwigg Franks, John Glaw, RicharJ Faltridj-e, Gerald Turner, George Mairs, William Pearce Hugh Robertson, and John R. Simpson. Penalty for default each case was twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Wong Shun Kong, and Co., charged with allowing offensive lubbi^h to lemaiu on their premises in Ingestvestreet, were ordered to pay costs 7s.
