INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE. The Wellington Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers has cited one hundred and forty-four employers in the Wellington district as parties to an in-, dustrial dispute betweeß mm and masters. The demands of the society wiil come- before a Council of Conciliation, over which Mr. P. Hally will.paegide, on the 13th April. The asaesfiore appointed by the workers aie Mes&rs. Charies Griffin, Thos. Tullet, and Alexander Stevenson. The employers' representatives have not yet been appointed. Among the demands is a 44 hours week with a half -holiday on Saturday, all time in excess of eight hoars a^day to be paid at the rate of time and a~quatter for the first two hours, time and a half up to midnight, and then double time. Double rates are demanded for work on specified holidays. Workers on night shifts are to be paid 2s per shift extra, but three or more consecutive nights must be worked before such shifts can be reckoned a* night shifts, otherwwe ov«rttm« rates must be paid. If any worker works 24 hours consecutively, with the exception of meal time, he shall be compelled to stand off eight hours.
