PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT. •MISS NUNNELEY WINS THE LADIES' SINGLES. With the playuic, off of the finals in the Ladies' Single? and Combined Doubles in the Senior Championthip and. the Men's Doubles and Ladies' Singles in the Junior Championship the Eatter Tournament of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Absociation is ovei with the exception of the Ladies' Doubles. The matches were finished on the Thorndon Green. The event of the afternoon was undoubtedly the final of the Ladies' Singles between Mihs Nunneley and Miss Travers. As reported in yesterday's I'obt Miss Nunneley won the n'n-t bet by 7to s,^after a hard battle. The second pet was almost equally strenuous, and for a time . Miss Trovers led, 3—2,3 — 2, and then 4—2.4 — 2. Her driving had a great quality of sting in it at this stage. Then »h« tired, and the experience and tool judgment of M^s Nunneley told. Most of the games were keenly contested, but Miss Tia,vers was outplayed, the set falling to Miss Nuuneley by 6—4. Miss, Nunneley thus won the championship by 7-5, 6-4. The Combined Doubles were interesting. Miss Nunneley and Brown beat Miss Marchant and Young 6—3, 6—l6 — 1 in the eemi-final. The final was won, more easily than was expected, by Mis>s Nunneley and Brown against Mis>s Travere and Salmond 6—l6 — 1 and 7—5. The final of the LadieV Doubles between Mrs. Holmes and Mu-s Batham and Mies Nunneley and Misa Williams was hard fought, but owing to the fading light was adjourned until Thursday afternoon, each side having won ono yet, 6—4, 4—6. The final will be replayed throughout. In the. Junior Championships Miss Morgan beat Miss Davis in the Ladies' Singles by 9—4.9 — 4.
