lONIC TO LOAD.

It is anticipated that the Sliaw-Savill liner lonic will leave for Lyttelton with remainder of her London cargo on Tuesday or Wednesday next. Upon completion of discharge the vessel will go to Picton for Homeward loading, returning thence to Lyttelton, and subsequently to Wellington about the 15th April. The lonic is timed to leave for London via the usual ports on the Slst April. A notice to mariners appears in this week's Gazette in reference to a rock in Waiuku Channel, Manukau harbour. A black buoy has been placed just outside the pinnacle, and vessels entering the channel should keep to the starboard side of the buoy. Leaving Wellington at 5.30 p.m. on Friday, she arrived at Wanganui at 7.20 this morning, and after discharging, from one hatch, some 74 tons of cargo— including 4000 feet of hardwood timber— aud loading a small quantity of cargo, she sailed again for Wellington on the same tide at a few minutes to 11 a.m. The Eair&ki is at present loading timber at Karanea for Lyttelton and KaiLpoi. She is the largest vessel that has yet visited Karamea. Tbe Wairau and Mangapapa are both due- shortly at Wellington with timber from the same place. While the four-masted barque Andromeda was being taken from the Railway Wharf on Thursday afternoon a member of the crew fell overboard. Being a good swimmer he kept afloat until a line was thrown to him, and after a five minutes' immersion he was drawn on board. The barque, which is bound for Auckland, was taten well clear of the heads by tbe Duchess. Some time to-morrow the Shaw-Savill steam--■er Aotea is due at Wellington from the Bluff to complete Homeward loading. The vessel i ■will leave on Wednesday or Thursday next for London. Captain S. Kennedy, late of the Tarawera, has succeeded Captain E. R. Stewart in command of the Kaituna. The Aparhna is due at Calcutta to-morrow from Dunedin via Newcastle, and will sail on the 7th April for New Zealand ports via Singapore and Samarang. Some time this week the Dilkera, of the Adelaide Steam Ship Company's fleet, was to leave Bunbury with sleepers for Bluff and Dunedin. The Paparoa is to leave Nelson to-day for Lyttelton to complete Homeward loading. She is to sail from the southern port for London on Thursday next. Mr. M. P. Caffln, parser to the WellingtonEastern Pacific service, has recovered from his recent attack of dengue fever and is proceeding to Auckland by the Hauroto. A cable message advises the departure of the barqaentine Pendle Hill from Sydney on Thursday last with a shipment of timber for Wellington. Mr. E. T. Free, fourth officer of the Moana, is now on tbe Manuka, in a similar capacity. Mr. A. J. Naylor has joined the Moana in his place. The Strathearn, to load under the aurplces of the Xew Zealand Shipping Company, reached Westport from Melbourne on Thursday oening, and is expected to arrive at Wellington to-morrow. Mr. •M. McMurrich is now sixth engineer Of tbe Moana in place of Mr. Wt W. Hougbton.
