LABOUR EXCHANGES. BERLIN PRESS APPROVAL.
The Berliner Tageblatt devotes a lending article to the new British Labour Exchanges. It .ecogniscs that although the original idea is German the English system is a qrent Improvement. In England, says the Tageblatt, the Government realises its duty towards the working num. In Germany this is not tha iai-€. Labour exchanges in \ Germany are munitip.il concerns, the i Government being indifferent. In Gerhiany these exchange*, aie limiteii to cities, with the result that an exodus of farm hands hns set in from country district!,. Germany is warned to extend the system to the country, unless she wishes to be outdone by her pupil.
