OTAKI ITEMS.
m [BY IEIiBGRAPH — SPECIAL TO IHB POST.] OTAKL, 25th March. Mrs. Quill and family, who are ea route to the British Isles for an extensive holiday, arrived at Brisbane on th* 16th inst., after a pleasant voyage. From that town the party went to Suva. Judging by tlje amount of enthusiasm shown in football circles, the game in, tho district is likely to lag even more than last season. Manakau and' Levin have had but poor meetings, while Otaki, last year's champions, have failed, so far, to have one at all. Hockey, also, will be much weaker, and sport generally seems on the decline. Fair nominations have been received for the sports to be held here on Monday. The rec*nt horticultural shpw, although a fine one, was not over successful financially, yet the management ar» well satisfied.
