WAS IT HALLEY'S COMET?
SEEN FROM JOHANNESBURG. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. JOHANNESBURG, 19th January. A bright comet was seen here at sunrise on Monday. It was five degrees south-west of the sun, and was still visible after sunrise. It was moving eastward at the rate of four degrees daily, and northward at the rate of two and a half degrees daily.
Messrs. A. L. \Vilson and Co. insert particulars of a furniture sale by auction on the premises, 36, Thompson-street, tomorrow, at 1 o'clock, when the contents of fourteen rooms will be offered. On Monday, at the residence, 94, Dixon-street, the contents of seven rooms will be sold. The firm also insert preliminary notice of a sale of furniture and .effects, including Schwechten piano, they_ are holding on behalf of Mr. F. J. White at his residence, 113, Coromandcl-street, when the contents of cix rooms will be sold. '
