Tho United Temperance Reform Council passed a resolution expressing gra< ification at the Government's decision in regard to canteens, and pleasure at the tenor of {he reply given by Sir Joseph Ward to the delegation re King Countiy licenses, and trusting that legislation quashing the licenses issued will be passed this session, and that the proclamation made to the nativr-s will ever be respected. Mr. W. . Milh\wd (managing director of the Gear Meat Company) and Mrs. jY'illward have arrived in Auckland from England and are expected to return to Wellington to-morrow.
