MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Miramar Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. C. J. Crawford) presiding. The following were also present — Councillors M'Leod, Brodie, Bowie, Muir, and M'Lelland. Accounts amounting to £119 2s 3d were passed for payment. The district fund account shewed a debit balance of £604 0s 3d The Mayor was appointed delegate to attend the election of representatives of the Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board. • In connection with the levy for the Infectious Diseases Hospital, ft, wa3 decided that the matter would be provided for in next year's estimates. The amount allocated to Miramar is £120 18s. A communication was received from the Christchurch City Council asking for the Miramar Council's co-operation in favouj of compulsory military training, a motion to which effect had been passed by the Southern body. On ths motion of Mr. M'Leod, it was decided to affirm the principle. The meeting endorsed the action of the Town Clerk, who wrote to the Harbour Board engineer (Mr. Marchbanks) asking that the tram-line on the Miramar Wharf be widened from 2ft',6in to 4ft. , The Wellington Harbour Board wrote that certain work at Miramar would necessitate the closing of the wharf from to-day - (the 29th ihst.). The board is erecting a retain ing-wall along the seafront. It was decided to go on with the channelling and kerbing at Fabian's Corner on condition that Mrs. Fabian contributes £3 10s towards the work. Mr. D. D. Weir was appointed honorary ranger. , The Overton-road is to be repaired* and several plain seats erected at Overton Park, in preparation for the summer traffic.
