SOUTHERN SHOWS,
[B* TELEGKAI'H — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TIMARU, 28th October. The weather was fine, and there was a record attendance for "people's day" at the Timaru Show. The gate receipt* were £32 better than last year. The competitions passed off well, splendid displays being made by the hunters. The thoroughbred championship went to Elworthy Brothers, the Finland carriage stallion, award to Mr. Williams's Father O'Flynn, the hackney championship to Mr. Wethell's Defender H., draught stallion to Mr. J. Weir's Balgowrie, mare Mr. T. Taylor's Jean Armour. CHEISTCHUkCH, 28th Octobei. For the Canterbury A. and P. .Association's Metropolitan Show the entries received to date outnumber those of las=t year's show by about one hundred. Further entries will be taken at the Rangiora Show to-morrow.
