BLAZE AT ISLAND BAY.
A third call was attended by the brigaic at 1.25 p.m., at Trent-street, -Island Bay, where an eight-roomed dwelling, occupied by Mr. Robert Jamieson, and owned by Mr. Hamilton Gilmer, was partially destroyed, while nothing of the furniture was saved. The Island Bay Volunteer Brigade was also in attendance. The origin of the outbreak is not known, though a fire had been left in the grate in the back premises where the blaze was first noticed. The furniture was covered by a policy of £150 in the South British Company, ana the house for £450 in the Atlas. *
Alexander IMoiiv, with three previous convictions, was in the 'Magistrate'^ Court to-day deemed to be an habitual drunkard. A sentence of 23 days' imprisonment was imposed Nicholas Scallan, with pno previous conviction f oi' drunkenness, was fined 10s; in default, 48 hours' invoris'onment. Two first-oflenders were mulcted in the sum of 5s each, alternatives being 24 hours' in gaol.
