AMATEUR ATHLETIC RULES. ALTERATIONS BY NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.

The council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met la^t night, there being present — Messrs. W. Larkin (chairman^, S. Robinson, Chaffey, Thompson, W. H. Pollock, Marryatt, and S. Bridge. Discussion was held on the proposed alterations and amend ments to the rules of the association. It was decided that the headquarters of the association be at Wellington, the transfer to come into force at the end of the current year. The headquaiters shall be tiansferable at any time by a majority vote of the centres' for the time being constituting the association, provided always that the headquarters shall be at the headquarters of the centre. A new rule was substituted for rule 3, dealing with council officers, as follows :—: — "The governing body of the association shall be a council of members representing the centres, and who must bo amateurs, under the amateur definition, provided that no person under suspension or difcqualiPcation, or who is a de faulter to any amateur sport, may ho n. councillor^ and that no person may represent morn than one centre. Each affiliated centrp shall be represented on the council by two members, who shall be elected by the Centre Committee «ii its annual meeting, and who shall hold office until th 3 election of their sucees sors. Should any extraordinary vacancy occur on the council, the centre affected shall elect a representative to fill such vacancy. Except where otherwise specially provided, the decision of the council shall be final on all matters. Six councillors to form a quorum." The following new rule was inserted : "Except when the council shall decide otherwise, no person shall be eligible to lepresent a club or a centre, who is under disqualification or suspension, as provided by the rules of the association, or who is a defaulter to any amateur sportd body." An amendment to rule 14, dealing with New Zealand championships, was made as under :— First^ man, five points ; second man, two points. The old rule provided for six points for the first man, three for the second, and one for the third. In this connection it wos also decided that a sutr^cstion be made to centres that one point extra be counted to a centre fnr > each representative who reat-hes a standard. It was further decided that, should a tie result, the teams tieing, with the most firsts to win, and should this not ' decide the chamoionshins. the banner to be, held jointly by the teams which tied. It wan agreed thit no district shall be I proclaimed a centre unless it has three or more affiliated clubs. It was also decided that the circle in the hammer- - throwing event at rhimnionship meetings be 7ft, instead of 9ft. Consideration of alterations in certain standard times was deferred.
