SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICE.

TO THE EDITOS. Sir, — Surely, even making due allowance for the present craze for economy that the Government lay claim to, the present railway service to the suburbs up Johnsonville -way cries loudly for amendment. At JSfgaio, KhandaHah, and Johnsonville we have an ever-increasing population, which hae settled in these places despite the worst train service south of the equator as regards the timetable. This population would speedily mcrease still further had we a decent time-table. But there is no train into Wellington from Ngaio between 8.30 a.m. and 12.15 p.m., or between the latter hour and 5.40 p.m. There is no return train from Wellington between 9.30 a.m. and 1.20 p.m., and on Satan--days none between 4 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. Except on two nights a" week, the night train outwards leaves at 9.30 o'clock— absolutely useless to the majority of the people. Why cannot inward and outward luggage trains occasionally have a car attached, ac on the Hutt line? Engines are sent up behind the 9.30 am and 1.20 p.m. trains, and allowed to ™n Urn fch no cars Ol> Clicks attached. •Why cannot a car or two be brought back from Johnsonville? It is nonsense to say it would cost too much to attach a car to an engine or luggage train coming from Johnsonville, and pull it down hill.' I trust deputation after deputation will wait upon Ministers with the energy and persistence of the Enehsh suffragettes, till this anomaly Ts righted. — I am, etc., VINBEX. Ngaio, 9th July.
