LACROSSE.

REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. AUCKLAND BEAT WELLINGTON. A very fine display of the game of Lacrosse was ' given on Saturday af terreon in the match between Auckland and Wellington at the Basin Reserve. There were about 500 spectators present, including the Hon. Dr. Findlay and the Hon. A. R. Guinness. The ground was wet and the ball quickly lost its \vhitenow, but nevertheless the game was very prelty to watch. Both tides, .showed much unproved form, as compared with their exhibition at the last lacrosse match here. Auckland had the better of the firft spell and established a lead by 6 goals to 1. Wellington then came to light, and with some veiy pretty combined play gained three points, the score at the end of the second spell being 1 7 to 4. Immediately on restarting Auckland delivered' three successful attacks in quick .succession, making the position, 10—4. The Wellington team scored another couple of goals and the game ended — Auckland 10, Wellington 6. llr. .M. A. M'Donell was reieree. COMPLIMENTARY DINNER. In the evening the teams met a^ain, this time for dinner at the Hotel Wind £or. The Hon. T. W. Hislop presided. Messrs. E. C. Levvey and F. G. Bolton (vice-presidents of the Wellington Laciosse Association), A. A. Gorrigan, and I. S. Young were among the guests. Th« toast, list, in addition to the customary loyal pledge, included the following : — "The Auckland Team," proposed by the chairman, seconded by Mr. Lan*—response by Mr. H. M"Coy, the visitors captain; "The Wellington Team," proposed by Mr. W. J. Nolan— re h ponse by Mr. A. C. Jantke, the Wellington captain; "The New Zealand Lacrosse Association," by Mr. E. C. Levvey, acknowledged by Messrs. S. J. Moran and Stewart; "The Wellington Lacrosse Association," by Mr. A. A. Corrigan—replies by Messrs. F. G. Bolton and F. Parkes (secretary). Mr. A. M'Donald replied to the toast of "The Referee." Songs and recitations were given by Messrs H R. Buckley, Borradale, , M Carthy, Kam, and Jantke.
