THE REVENUE.
• * ■— LAST QUARTER'S RETURNS. The Acting-Minister of Finance states that for the quarter ended 30th Jane the revenue of the Dominion shows an increase of £34,678, as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The total increases are £120,896," but there are decreases, amounting in all to £86,218, including Customs (by £38,085), territorial revenue (by £20,368), and stamps (by £22,598). The railway receipts show an increase of £92,538. The figures for the quarter ended 30th June, 1908, and for the quarter ended 3Qth June, 1909, are as under :—: —

This year a visitor to Queensland met or heard of a hundred New Zealand farmers travelling in that country (says the Mataura Ensign). Chiefly they were Joalsing; I'oi ODnortunitica to batter themsolves.
