A cyclonic disturbance has developed during the night oil the north-wast coast of the Noith Island, and the westerly low pressures due over tho South Island is deei easing in energy. Heavy rain has fallen in many parts ot the North Island during the night and a westerly gale was reported at Tiritiri, but elsewhere the winds have been modeiate to strong befesvecn north-cast and south-east, but strong westerly winds have prevailed in Sonthlard. The barometer has fallen nearly half an inch in the extreme noith, but little movement south of New Plymouth aud Napier.
