WEDNESDAY GAMES. The heavy ground and wet ball militated against good football yesterday, when the Wednesday competition was continued. Oriental beat Star by 15 points to 3, after a give and take game. Schultz and Sinclair scored tries for the winners, Gosling converting one, and kicking a goal from a mark, and potting one. Bailey got the points for Star. Mr. Gillespie refereed. Tramway (34) gave Butchers (0) a pound defeat. Perkinson scored a try, Ryder converting. Buckeridge followed, then Mowatt, then Perkinson, and subsequently Parker crossed. Ryder converted the first four tries, and Perkinson the fifth. Parker, Martin, and Bt-amley scored in the second spell for Tramway. Mr. Fordyce was reieree. WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union met last night. There were present : — Messrs. S. Brown (chairman), J. Perry, J. Burns, J. Sweeney, J. H. Price, W. Hardham, P. Peters, and J. O'Sullivan. A letter was received from Mr. Welch asking the committee to exonerate tht> Kia Ora Club re his allegation that a certain match was a "put up job." The Karon. Club wrote an connection with the encroaching of spectators oit the local ground, and a statement made by the referee that there had been disgraceful scenes. It was resolved to ask the referee to report to tbte committee on the matter. Further complaint about the Epuni team was made by Mr. J. P. Firth relative to its game with Wellington College. He said that he diet not expect that the Epuni captain nor the referee would bear out his statements, the latter having tolerated the piny. The College team would default to Epuni in future. The committee resolved to severely caution the offending team. It was resolved to deqhuo the junior championship competition closed next Saturday. AUCKLAND RUGBY REPRESENTATIVES. [BY JPELEGBAPH — PHES3 ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, 7th July. At a meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union held this evening, it was decided to write the New Zealand Rugby Union, suggesting that the North v. South Island match at Wellington bo played on 4th September. The itinerary of the Auckland Union's southern tour is now definitely fixed as follows : — Play Wellington 28th August; Wangamii, 31st August; Taranaki, 2nd 'September. It was decided to suggest to Taranaki that the special match be played at Auckland on 11th September. ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Football 'Association, held last evening at the Y.M.O.A. 'Rooms, was attended by Messrs. H. N. Holmes (in chair), H. •M'Keowen, 'B. >L. Salmon, W. Auld, J. !M. Oilier, H. Waters, J. B. Paton, L. White, J. J. Roberts, and A. Williams (secretary). An application for transfer of a Thistle senior first division player to .Mental Hospital Club was refused, on the ground that according to rule no transfers may be granted after the first ■round in the championship contest. Mr. iW. Wood drew attention, to tho fact that the Basin Reserve was notnroperly marked, inasmuch a 6 the goal-line at the top end of the pitch was fully six inches behind the goal posts. The matter was referred to the Grounds Committee. In connection with the ordering off a Diamonds player by the referee- in the Diamonds v. Wanderers match, at Newtown (Park, last Saturday, owing to misconduct, an apology from the player was received, and it was resolved that he 'be severely cautioned and warned that if the offence is repeated, drastic treatment would Be given him. St. John's 'Club protested a-gainst a recent decision of the 'Management Committee in dismissing a former protest against the action, of Swifts Club in including in their team against ■St. John's B. L. Salmon, a member of the committee. It was decided to refer the matter to an Appeal Board, consisting of Messrs. Munckton, Granville Hunt, and Shields. • It was decided that arrangements be made for the Taranaki challenge team to practice at Miramar (No. 6 ground) on Friday morning. A latter was received from Wanderers Club, withdrawing all allegations and charges against Swifts Club with reference to the desired transfer of a Wanderers player to Swifts. The referee in a junior first-division match reported that he had ordered off a 'St. David's player for misconduct. It was decided to ask referee and player to attend the next meeting. It was resolved that Mr. H. N. •Holmes should, in company wibh Mr. A. Casey, of tho Lacrosse Association, wait upon the chairman of the Reserves Committee of the City Council (Mr. J. P. Luke) and urge the importance of securing the use of Ne-wtown Park for the Brown Shield match next Saturday.
