ENORMOUS EXTENSION OT? KRUPP'S WORKS. Bj Xfilegrapli.— Press Association.— Copyright; LONDON, 18th June. The Standard publishes a quotation, obtained through what is described as an authoritative source, from a letter dated 11th May, 1906, informing the Admiralty of fhe fact that enormous expenditure was in progress at Krupp's works, for the purpose of manufacturing large naval guns and mountings quickly. The letter added : — "These extensions will give a possibility of an output far I in excess of the whole capacity of Bri- ! tain. The scheme must either be to provide for immense future requirements for Germany, or else the directors of Krupps mean to capture the whole of tho armament trade of the world, outside a few great Powers who build for themselves." MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. LONDON, 18th June. In the House of Commons, Mr M'Kenna, First Lord of the Admiralty, in reply to .Mr. J. T. Middlemore, LiberalUnionist member for North Birmingham, said the Admiralty, early in 1906, was first aware of Krupp's works being extended. That expansion and progress had been continuing ever since.
