QUEEN'S STATUE.

TO THH EDITOR. Sir, — I should bo obliged if you will kindly allow me a small space in your paper in ordor that I may say a few words in reference to the Queen's statue. I cannot help writing, because I certainly think it ia about time that the statue was fenced in. ' All true Britishers must feel touched when they pass tho memorial of our late Queen Victoria and see it being used as a resting 'place for the unemployed of the city, and also for a platform for the Socialists and other persoi#s who wish to cause* a commotion by their useless "so-called speeches." As previously stated. I would be pleased if you will biing this matter before the public, and I trust that something will bo done in the near future to prevent tho statue from being used as a platform. — I .mi, etc. A YOUNG NEW ZEALANDER. 11th June.

A satisfactory balance remains to credit after settlement of accounts in connection with the latp boxing championship contests hold in the Town Hall by the-3Vellington Boxing Association.
