On Tuesday next the final deposits, £300 per man, have to be made good with tho stakeholder in connection with the sculling championship on the 22nd inst. Interviewed yesterday, the champion, who has not been well for a few days, said : "I can feel myself coming on, and to-day I feel more like rowing than I have done for some days past. I expect to improve every day now, and should be Al when Igo to the post. I had rather a bad turn, and it pulled me down a bit, but I shall be all the better for the spell." Later on, when Arnst stripped and got on the scales, his weight was 13st s£lb, or three or four pounds heavier than he was a couple of days previous, and he looks upon the increased weight as very Batislactory. Yesterday morning, Arnst and Fogwell went over the championship course, indulging in a few sprints on the way. In the afternoon the course was again covered, the champion striking sweeping Stroke, having great power in them. Webb took things easily yesterday, rowing by himself over the course in the morning, and 'in tho afternoon driving to, the &ea beach. This morning, accompanied by Whelfli, he had a solid row over a couple of mile;, and the pair then indulged ir> .splinting, in which the ex-champion -was saen to great advan! jige, showing a lot of pace.
